At-Home Worship

In addition to our on-line worship, here is a Service you can use to worship at-home:

Start by thinking about and then confessing your sins:

I confess to God Almighty, before the whole company of heaven, that I have sinned in thought, word, and deed by my fault, by my own fault, by my own most grievous fault; wherefore I pray God Almighty to have mercy on me, forgive me all my sins, and bring me to everlasting life.  Amen.

The almighty and merciful Lord grant you pardon, forgiveness, and remission of all your sins.  Amen.

The Prayer of the Day:  Lord God, your loving kindness always goes before us and follows after us.  Summon us into your light, and direct our steps in the ways of goodness that come through the cross of your Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.  Amen.

Today’s readings: Isaiah 9:1-4; Psalm 27:1, 4-9; 1 Corinthians 1:10-19

Today’s Gospel: Matthew 4:12-23

— Take a few minutes to think about these Scriptures. —

Confess your faith with the words of the Apostles’ Creed:  I believe in God the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.  He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.  He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again.  He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.  He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.  Amen.

The Prayers of the Church

As a beloved child of God united in Christ I pray for the church, all of humanity, and the well-being of the earth, our home.

Holy One, you entrust the message of the cross and the mission of the gospel to the church in every land.  Guide the baptized, deepening the faith of all who follow Christ.  Merciful God, receive my prayer.

Holy Creator, you lavish creation with splendor, and I praise you for the gift of life.  Teach me to live as a wise steward, sharing the earth’s resources with all who live on this garden planet. Merciful God, receive my prayer.

Holy Judge, your power is love, and you judge the nations by the measure of Christ.  Free any who are unjustly accused or wrongly condemned.  I pray for those in authority.  Merciful God, receive my prayer.

Holy Healer, As you care for vulnerable young children, frail elders, and any who are sick, let us pray for those we know who need your help. (Pray for those you know.)  Provide for their needs and relieve their suffering. Merciful God, receive my prayer.

Holy Savior, you free us from the power of death.  Lead and guide us until we come at last into the communion of all your saints in light.  Merciful God, receive my prayer.

Confident that the Holy Spirit receives our prayers and answers us, we commend all for whom we pray to God’s loving-kindness made known to us in Christ Jesus our Savior, who taught us to pray…

… Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed by thy name, they kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread; forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.  For thine is ther kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Benediction: The Lord bless me, defend me from all evil, and bring me to everlasting life, now and forever.  Amen.
